Welcome toMendip Green Primary School
At the heart of everything we do is a deep commitment to ensuring every child feels happy, loved, and truly seen. We believe everyone deserves an extraordinary childhood, and school plays a vital role in shaping those precious years. Our curriculum is designed not only to prepare children for the next stage in their learning journey, but also to nurture their curiosity, creativity, and personal growth through rich and varied experiences.

See our FacebookOn Tuesday, 3 generations of one of our Mendip Green PTA families came to school armed with shovels, pick axes and a wheelbarrow. The banks of the sandpit were cleared and smoothed. For a small team, they whizzed through it in no time.
We had a delivery of top soil arrive Wednesday ready for laying turf next week.
On Monday, our little sandpit dream team will be returning (and joined by a few more willing recruits). We will be laying the topsoil and turf to create banks smoother than any you would find in Teletubby Land!
Mrs Barnes has been pulling strings and has arranged for someone to come and lift the giant sand bags into the sandpit which will save us many, many wheelbarrow loads!
Next term, our sandpit dreams will be a reality. We are very excited!! 😆

Here are a few things we have been up to at Mendip Green this week…
In preparation for their communal retelling EYFS have been busy making Easter nest cakes using a simple step by step guide: melt it, tip it in, mix it in, let it chill.
Year 1 have been learning about the senses in science. This week, they used their sense of smell to see if they could identify what was in the cups. It was trickier than they thought. They enjoyed the smell of the hot chocolate the best!
Year 2 have completed their Fairground Wheel project in DT this week using their knowledge of axels, frames and design.
Year 3 have added the overhead pass to their skills this week. They enjoyed a game of piggy in the middle to practise besting a defender.
Year 4 have been introduced to mixed numbers in maths this week. They have counted in fractions on a number line beyond one and started to compare mixed numbers.
Year 5 are planning and writing their RE synoptic task. They are looking forward to sharing their knowledge of St Martin's Church which they visited and their learning about Wells Cathedral.
Year 6 have been planning for their next ‘big write’ in history - they have loved the planning process of finding connections between the Norse peoples and other lands!
Children in Acorn this week have been very busy. They have been exploring different mediums to make some spring flowers. The children particularly enjoyed the oil pastels.
The children had great fun in sensory circuits jumping on giant bubble wrap to alert their bodies.
KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE: remember, we never name children in our posts. Please do the same when showering them with praise in the comments below 👇
